The Mini Cooper. The VW Beetle. The Ford Mustang. The Dodge Charger. The forthcoming Chevy Camaro. The car industry looks to the past for new models like a Hollywood executive sorting through long forgotten 1970s TV shows. In a crowded marketplace, classic old names like Mini or "Bug" are a marketer's dream, but the industry is missing some other near-classics and interesting models that would really stand out. Here are my picks for the cars of yesterday that should return to showrooms.
